Concert Band

The concert band is the primary organization in the instrumental music department during the school year. This ensemble will perform many different symphonic band works ranging from marches to overtures. They will perform several concerts over the year. Wind students who plan to be in marching band must be registered for this course. Members are expected to perform in this ensemble for the entire school year.

Marching Band

Membership in the marching band requires strenuous physical exercise and the ability to play the difficult literature encountered in this activity. All students enrolled in the band program are expected to march with the exception of the students outside of the program, who are eligible to audition for the color guard. Also, all students in the marching band are expected to perform with a concert ensemble for the entire school year. Color guard members are encouraged to take a band class or a dance class. The marching band performs in the fall.

Percussion Ensemble

This ensemble is for all percussion players interested in marching percussion and concert percussion. You must be a member of the marching band to be involved in this class. All students will learn to play a variety of instruments throughout the year. Many students will perform with the concert band and all will perform as a percussion ensemble throughout the year. Members are expected to perform in this ensemble for the entire school year. Depending on enrollment, auditions might be needed.

Jazz Band

Students can elect to perform in the jazz band. The jazz band plays for community events and performs throughout the spring. Jazz band is held second semester only. Rehearsals will be held before/after school.

Chamber Ensembles

During the fall and the spring, chamber ensembles will be formed. ALL band members will be encouraged to perform in a chamber ensemble. Possible groups are woodwind quintet, brass quintet, saxophone quartet, horn ensemble, trombone quartet, low brass ensemble, flute choir, clarinet choir, percussion ensemble, and additional small groups. There will be a chamber concert in the spring and opportunities for performance at the solo and ensemble festival.

Color Guard

Students who are interested in dance, choreography, and movement may choose to audition for our marching auxiliary unit. Depending on enrollment, auditions might be needed.
